Earn Credit Toward Your Dues on the Following Saturdays:

April 21th, April 28th & May 5th (if needed)

Volunteers are needed for the following shifts:

Shift 1:   8:30 a – 12:30 pm ½ hour lunch (lunch is provided for you - that’s nice don’t you think?)

Shift 2:   1:00 p – 5:00 pm

Click here to Contact Our Volunteer Chair & Sign up for Preseason workdays.

Credit for dues details:
Work a minimum of 10 hours over the designated Saturdays and earn $100 credit toward your family’s dues. The family maximum credit is $250.  Plan to work in shifts of 4 hours so we can better utilize our volunteers.  You are welcome to work both shifts if that works better for you.  You must work at least 10 hours to earn pre-season credit.  Anything less than 10 hours will only earn you the $30 volunteer fee that is assessed to every membership.

What will we be doing?

Cleaning – grounds clean-up and more….. The work is physical in nature and you will get dirty and tired...but have a lot of fun.

This year we will be planting flowers in containers and cleaning up the flower beds out front.  We have some tools on site but feel free to bring your own.  Please label so we can make sure you get it back.  If you have gardening experience and would like to help pick out the flowers for the hanging baskets and planters, I would love your input.  I have the ability to kill a cactus and can really use your help...

Credit for jobs is on a first come first serve basis, unless otherwise arranged by the Volunteer Chair, Vickie Atkinson.

  • Be sure to wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
  • Bring work gloves
  • Bring sunscreen.
  • Bring water bottle.

Shower before Swimming - Please!!! E-mail

You can make a big difference to the water quality by showering before you swim!

Help our pool keep up with all the demands on it's water quality.  Between copious amounts of sundblock and a high volume of swimmers we need to use all the tools in our water quality kit.  A quick rinse off before jumping in reduces the cracker crumbs and playground pebbles floating in the water and gives our filtering system a helping hand!

Member Comment at Board Meetings E-mail

We want give you an opportunity to offer your feedback (both positive and constructive!) to the board and so we have added to our board meeting agenda a Member Comment time slot.  All we ask is that you sign up

Our next meeting will be 7:00pm, Monday, September 5,  at the pool.  This is the General Membership meeting and the election of officers for the 2012 season will be held. Pick up a ballot at the front desk if you can't make it. Contact the board if you have something to share. The board meeting time & place will vary so check back for the date, time & place of future meetings.

Thanks for participating in the pool - active & caring members is what makes the Exchange Pool great.

Opening Letter 2012

Dear EXSC families,

The summer swim league season is about to start. For those of you new to the Exchange Pool or Sunset Creek we have a phenomenal summer swim team, EXSC, which has experienced four successful years with three championships! This summer we are hoping to see all of last year’s familiar faces and many new faces as well. Don’t be fooled by our success. We are still all about friends, fun and improving our swimming skills. We are very excited to have 4 home-grown experienced coaches returning this year: Head Coach: Michaela Henry, Assistant Coaches: Tucker Witsil, Sean Burke, and Jocelyn Tisch.  We are delighted to have Hannah Hodge, one of our Junior Coaches, join the coaching team as our newest Assistant Coach!

The Exchange Pool website (exchangepool.net) has been updated and has a current month-by month calendar of events, swim meets and social activities. Please take the opportunity to read through the EXSC Handbook which is available online, you may notice a few changes.

Each swimmer needs to fill out a registration form and t-shirt order. Both forms are available on the website. If you prefer, you can bring them to the Apparel Fitting on May 13th or the Open House on May 20th, or you can mail them to Celeste Cantrell, 124 Waverly Forest Ln, Chapel Hill, NC 27516. No swimmer will be registered until Celeste has received full payment for each swimmer.  In addition, your Exchange Pool membership dues must be paid in full in order to register for swim team.

We will continue to cap our registered swimmers at 200.  Once we have 200 swimmers, we will begin a wait list. Be sure to get your kids registered early because it will be based on a First Come/First serve basis.  We do offer a 2 week trial period at the beginning of the season with the Drop date of Friday, June 1st for all swimmers. If any swimmers decide to drop from the team, we will contact the swimmer at the top of the wait list to fill that spot.  With the changes we have made, we will need to adhere closely to our swim team participation guidelines, which are listed below:

• In order to swim on swim team swimmers need to show enthusiasm and willingness to be in the water.

• Swimmers must be able to learn in a group environment and swim at least 10 yards unassisted to be placed on the team.  We ask parents to consider private or group lessons for those swimmers who can not swim 10 yards unassisted at the start of the season. Swimmers can join into the team at any point in the season when they meet criteria and if we have a spot open.

• The coaches will be doing swim assessments at Open House and the first week of practice to evaluate swimmers for the criteria above.

• We continue with the recommendation that each swimmer participate in at least 2 swim meets. Swim meets can be noisy and intimidating for some children. It is understandable that some swimmers do not wish to compete. However, we are a team, and we rely on our swimmers to cheer and support their teammates.  We also rely on parents to volunteer!  A swim meet requires a lot of coordination and parent participation to run smoothly so that all of our children enjoy the experience.

One t-shirt will be free to those swimmers registered prior to June 1st. Additional t-shirts for parents and siblings can be ordered prior to June 1st by filling out the order form available at Open House and throughout the 2 week trial period.

We have formalized our junior coach selection process. If you have a teenager, 14 years or older, interested in junior coaching please check out the web site for an application. We would love to have them.

We are looking forward to another great season so please check the website and download the calendar, forms, and come join us.

Volunteering At Exchange E-mail

Volunteering is a great way to earn back some of the Exchange membership dues and a big thank you goes out to everyone who has volunteered to date....you folks are awesome!  The pool couldn't have opened without you.

We still have opportunities for volunteering, especially at Social Events and our Social Coordinator, Claudia Sheppard wants to hear from you.  Use our new Wiki sign up for events. - The Wiki has a lot of information about events.  Also learn more about volunteering in the the volunteer section of the website, too and Contact Claudia if you have questions.

Thank you so much for all of the hard work...this cooperative ethic is what really makes the Exchange Pool special.

Buyers - If you buy from someone not on the list posted ON THE WEB - contact the membership coordinator before you finalize the transaction to make sure the account you are buying is in good standing (not in arrears). Do not skip this step!
